Shield Squad Terms of Use

By installing or using Shield Squad ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Shield Squad is intended to be installed and managed by a parent or guardian.

What the app does

Shield Squad uses an on-device DNS filter, set up through Android's VPN service, to block categories of websites such as adult content, gambling, and malware and phishing. Optional categories (social media, gaming and entertainment, and app sideloading sites) can be switched on by a parent with the Gold plan.

No guarantee of complete protection

Shield Squad is a helpful safety tool, not a guarantee. No filter blocks everything. Some harmful content may not be blocked, and some safe content may be blocked by mistake. The app does not replace parental supervision or open conversations with your child. A determined child may be able to bypass or disable protection, for example by changing Android settings, so we recommend turning on Always-on VPN and "Block connections without VPN" as the app suggests.

Your responsibilities

• You must be a parent or legal guardian, or have permission from one, to install and manage the app on a child's device.
• Keep your parent PIN private and use an email address you control for alerts.
• Use the app only for lawful purposes and do not try to reverse engineer, disrupt or misuse it or its services.

Plans and payments

Silver Shield is free. Gold Shield is a paid upgrade that unlocks extra controls and features. Purchases (when available) are handled by Google Play and are subject to Google Play's terms, pricing and refund policies. The app does not receive your payment card details. Cyber Quest stars and progress are saved on the device on every plan, but rewards unlock only with Gold. If Gold ends, saved progress is kept and Gold rewards are locked again. Features may change over time.

Alerts

If you turn on alerts, the app emails the parent address you entered when the child presses the help button, the shield is stopped, or the child asks to unblock a site. To avoid flooding your inbox, the app sends at most 10 alert emails per device per day. Email delivery depends on third parties and is not guaranteed.

Availability and changes

We may update, change or discontinue features, including blocklists, at any time. We may update these terms, and continued use of the app after a change means you accept the new terms.

Limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of the app, including content that was not blocked. Nothing in these terms limits any rights or liability that cannot be limited by law.
